Tetractys is a 12-foot-tall fire kaleidoscope that spectators can stand beneath to experience the warmth and wonder of the flaming fractals inside.
The piece began as a small prototype that has grown from 12 inches to 12 feet. It is a constantly-evolving experiment that involves flames, polished steel and extreme temperatures. The modular fire element is in its second iteration and will evolve with ever-increasing intricacy as the experiment continues.
It is the brainchild of Daniel Young and builds on previous giant kaleidoscope installations by Daniel and Keenan McCune of Thirty Circles (Axis Mundi, PDXWLF 2019). All welding and fire mastery was thanks to Ryan Ramage of After Dark Arts.
