ABOUT

Electric Boogaloo lights up in response to the soundtrack from the Silent Disco. The lighting technology was developed by CymaSpace to achieve the goal of making sound-based events accessible and inclusive to the deaf and hard of hearing, adding an immersive visual dimension to the audio experience. Deeper, louder sounds are seen as warm reds and yellows, while higher, softer sounds are cooler blues and purples.

The structures are inspired by crystal forms in nature and designed to maximize the native properties of the selected materials. The installation uses the fiberoptic quality of the fluorescent acrylic that allows the edges to glow with borrowed light, as well as the light diffusing quality of the Satin Ice and fabric sleeve to create the volume of the towers. The acrylic shapes are machined by Lightly Vital.
